Eyeliner: Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

October 26, 2010

I’ve recently made a promise to myself:  that I will put some effort into looking like a yummy mummy rather than going out looking like a haggard corpse.  I go through these phases where I will get dolled up but then after a few days, I get tired of the whole charade and just can’t be bothered anymore.  But these days (and the fact that my 30-something birthday is approaching eek!), I suddenly feel the effects of aging and whereas my genes allowed me to get away with looking younger simply by being asian, I now realize that my genes need help and by help I mean makeup.

I wake up every morning around 5:30am not because of my daughter but because my body clock is all fucked up and thinks that waking up before the dead is cool so needless to say, I would rather pour my energy into doing something more productive than getting gussied up.  It takes me a total of 10 minutes to get ready from the time I roll out of bed: get dressed (usually jeans and a simple cotton top), brush teeth and wash face, makeup (concealer, blush, loose powder – that’s it) and I’m ready to roll.  If anything, Miss Kayla takes longer than me to get dressed because she needs to decide what to wear and while she huffs and puffs over her outfit, 15 minutes has already passed along with my patience.  Need I remind you that my daughter is 2 years old and puts more effort into her outfit than I do.  Clearly, there’s something wrong with this picture.   Alas, I have made this promise to myself and I at least owe it to my husband to try and look like a smidgen of my former self so I went out and perused the make-upy wonderfulness that is Sephora.  I was on the hunt for a black liquid liner because whenever I wear eyeliner, I feel so fancy.  My criteria was that it had to come in a pen, it had to stay put and it had to be easy to use.  I don’t want a pen liner that I have to twist to get the liner out and it had to be black.  Not light black but black black.   Much like mascara, my eyeliner always seem to find its way onto my upper lid so I made it very clear to the sales person that this liner must.stay.put.  After trying out several liners, I landed on this one:  Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner.  After applying it on my hand and trying to wipe it off, I was surprised that only after a few seconds (literally, like 2 seconds), it didn’t even smudge.  Thank you Kat Von D; if your eyeliner is anything like your tattoos, then this should be worth my money.

Fast forward to 3pm today; I did a quick check and whoop there it is:  the full liner on my eyes and not a hint of it on my upper lid.  You done good, KVD, you done good.

Glad you found your perfect eyeliner! Is it easy to remove at the end of the day?

Yes! I don’t even use make-up remover; I just squirt some toner onto a q-tip and wipe off. Love it

So this is the eyeliner that you ended up buying. It looks like it’s great to line the top of your lid but can you line the bottom with it?

you definitely can but it’s very black so not sure if you can line the bottom. Because it’s liquid, don’t think you can line the inner part of the lid, KWIM?. either way, i LOVE IT!! am going to head back to sephora today and get some more makeup: korres lip butter in quince and my concealer stuff bc i’m pretty much out. btw, i heard you’re not coming to the beauty board! how come?!
